The Organic Centre runs a one year full-time Organic Horticulture training programme, funded by FAS as local training initiative. The programme has a strong emphasis on practical work experience, as well as classroom based teaching. Our trainees gain practical experience in all aspects of organic market gardening from soil preparation and sowing, pest and disease management, through to harvesting and selling the final product. They work throughout the growing season under the guidance and supervision of highly experienced gardeners. We currently offer the following FETAC Level 5 accredited modules:
In 2008, we will be offering a full Level 5 Award.
Applicants for this course must first register with FAS and specify their interest in this particular course. They will be called for interview normally in early December, and 15 trainees will be selected from this process.
If you would like more information about the course, please contact us.
