Organic Display Gardens
We aim to show how organic food can be grown by everyone, using organic methods that work in harmony with nature. Our organic demonstration gardens are located on 19 acres within the beautiful Leitrim countryside, close to Lough Melvin. The gardens include:

8 Polytunnels of different sizes showing protected cropping on domestic and commercial scales
- A family-sized organic kitchen garden
- A training garden for our students and local community groups
- Field scale vegetable production
- An orchard & soft fruit area with heritage varieties
- A herb garden with a large variety of culinary and medicinal herbs
- A dry stone spiral displaying 20 varieties of mint
- Colourful and attractive flowerbeds
- A composting display
- A childrens garden with willow sculptures and witches’ house
- A sensory garden
- A forest garden with edible tree and shrub varieties
- A Butterfly hedge, and edible hedge
- A native woodland planted in 2004 under the Neighbourwood Scheme.
- A constructed wetland area, and wildlife ponds
You can also visit our Eco-shop and relax in our Grass Roof Organic Cafe at weekends. The Eco-shop stocks a range of eco-friendly and ethical products for your home and garden, including books, organic seeds, tools, organic compost, seasonal organic vegetables, freshly baked organic bread & cakes, organic confectionery, fair-trade products, toys, toiletries, and household items.
The Grass Roof Organic Cafe is open every weekend from 11am to 4pm. A light organic vegetarian lunch, and fair-trade tea and coffee are available at weekends. We use seasonal organic produce from our own gardens, and bake our own bread and cakes
