Biodiversity Day at The Organic Centre, Rossinver, Co. Leitrim 25th May 2008, 11am -5pm

The following is a provisional programme of activities confirmed for Biodiversity Day at The Organic Centre for Sunday 25th May, 11.00am - 5.00pm

12.00 noon Head gardener Julia Lehmann will lead tours on Biodiversity in Organic Gardening.

12.00 noon Eagles Fly from Ballymote will showcase a barn owl and a buzzard.

12.30 Anita Roesler, education officer NPWS on Wildlife Gardening.

12.30 The Community Food Project will show their Robin’s Garden here at the centre.

2.00pm Steven Meyen, forestry adviser from Teagasc in Donegal will conduct a tour through our Native Woodland and talk about the importance of hedgerows.

2.00 - 4.00 Ciara Barrett will lead Nature Trails for children around the centre grounds.

2.00pm Fiona Farrell, Wildlife Ranger for Co. Leitrim will lead a walk to a protected site at Dough Mountain.

2.30pm Tour of the Orchard with Phil Wheal

3.00pm Gaby Wieland will give a workshop on medicinal herbs in the Herb Garden.

3.30pm Irene Mohan from RSPB will give a presentation on the protection of birds and the community garden and allotments in Lisnaskea.

4.00pm  Jill Scott, Macnean Organic Gardens hosts a workshop on Companion Planting.  

Fringe events planned are: A bat walk - A dawn chorus - Walk to Foleys Falls - Wild Herb Walk
