Basket Making

Frame baskets are strong and elegantly curved and once the basic framework is set up it is not complicated to fill in the basket with fine willow.  Beginners are recommended to try small, shallow baskets first e.g. a sciathóg (small shield).  Deeper baskets take longer to make but handles can be incorporated or added afterwards.  The course will include the making of hoops and how to split and shave thick sticks for ribs.  You will take your basket home.
