Reedbed Systems - Ecological and cost effective
An introduction to domestic reedbed design and installation as a cost effective and ecological way to treat effluents. The course will cover low cost/low impact composting systems, septic tanks, composting chambers with flush toilets, grey water treatment systems, reedbeds and constructed wetlands. Participants will receive basic information in putting together a system for their house or farm. The operational wetland system at the Centre will also be visited.
Ollan will also focus on waste water treatment and water reuse in residential, school and agricultural developments. Water in Ireland will soon become costly; the course will cover how to reduce water supply charges, recycling treated water for reuse, and the EU Urban Waste Water Directive.
