Daucus carota - Family Umbelliferae Carrots prefer a deep, fertile and free draining soil. Fresh manure should be avoided as this causes forking of the roots. For early carrots sow in April outdoors (cover with bionet, if carrot fly is a problem). Sow main crop in May.
